When asked to reveal something surprising about the pair, she said, “They’re really, really funny.” She added, “They’re probably some of my funniest friends. They’re funny, you guys. That’s the scoop. They’re like us” (via Entertainment Tonight).
The friendship between Ice Spice and the Grammy-winning singer began when Swift invited her to collaborate on her hit track, “Karma.” Previously, the “Bikini Bottom” rapper revealed in a Rolling Stone interview how the collaboration came to be.
After confirming that Swift is her “closest celebrity friend,” Ice Spice shared that she heard about her feature on the “Blank Space” singer’s album through her manager. She recalled working on something in her apartment when she got the call.
While speaking to her manager, she said she “played it cool,” but afterward, she couldn’t contain her emotions. The “In Ha Mood” artist recalled, “I hang up the phone and I’m hysterically crying. I’m in my walk-in closet, and I’m like, ‘Bro, this is not real life.’”
On the other hand, Swift also praised Ice Spice’s vision for her own career, emphasizing how the rapper leans into “the strategic, financial, and business aspects” of it.
She told Rolling Stone, “The more artists learn about the inner workings of the music industry, the more power they can have in their creative world. I knew, based on the questions she asked and the observations she made that she didn’t just want to be a passenger in her own career. She wanted to be the driver of it.”
