Mahershala Ali reflects on the toughest part of his training routine for Jurassic World Rebirth
Mahershala Ali has shared details about the physical and emotional preparation that went into filming Jurassic World Rebirth. During the film’s New York premiere on June 23, Ali told E! News that while staying physically fit was part of the process, his biggest challenge was staying mentally grounded throughout the grueling four-month shoot.
Ali said, “It was really about being able to emotionally sustain this journey more than anything.” He explained, “I got on the bike every day, or did my little curls, my little workout. But it was really [about] sustaining the feeling of being terrorized by these things over the course of four months. That was the tough part.”
Despite the emotional weight of the performance, Ali found some peace in the film’s international production schedule. It took him to locations like Thailand, Malta, and London. He said, “We were in some wonderful locations, so it was easy to shake things off.” The actor also added that international shoots helped him to form stronger bonds with the cast and crew. He explained, “I’ve shot a lot domestically. But being out in such a special place like Thailand led to us having this feeling of being at a summer camp together.”
Ali, who stars alongside Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Rupert Friend in the upcoming blockbuster, also opened up about watching the film with his family. At the U.K. premiere, he was joined by his wife, Amatus Sami-Karim, and their 8-year-old daughter, Bari Najma.
Speaking to ET Online, Mahershala Ali reflected on how special it was to share a complete film with his daughter. He said, “I think she loved getting to see me in something because she has seen my work in little pieces.”
