Together, they investigate the murder of a Department of Homeland Security officer.

The Supernatural alum shared in a recent interview that Justice, his 12-year-old daughter, was eager to see Countdown.

“I do think my oldest is old enough to watch this,” Jensen Ackles told PEOPLE. “So she’s fired up to see it.” He noted that there were not many projects in his filmography that his children were able to watch yet.

“She [Justice] hasn’t really gotten to see her dad in action,” the 47-year-old actor added. “And in this one, I’ll be in action.”

Moreover, The Boys actor revealed that his children were aware of his television projects, even if they had not seen them yet. Notably, besides Justice, Ackles and his wife, Danneel Harris, are also parents to 8-year-old twins, Zeppelin and Arrow.

Furthermore, in a separate interview with E! News, Ackles said that his daughter was “dying and begging” him to watch Countdown. He noted that this stemmed from ABC’s The Rookie being one of the latter’s “favorite shows.”

Ackles mentioned telling his daughter that Countdown would not be like The Rookie, emphasizing that the series would feature “a lot more action” and was “not nearly as soapy.”

The Big Sky actor revealed that he anticipated his daughter would compare his performance in Countdown to Nathan Fillion’s portrayal of John Nolan in The Rookie. Interestingly, Ackles recalled once calling Fillion and telling him about his daughter’s obsession with his show, then asking the Castle actor to send her a happy birthday video.

“Not only did he send one, he got the entire cast to send individual ‘Happy Birthdays,’” Ackles added. “So that’s about the best gift a father could have given. And it cost me a phone call—so it was free.”

Countdown drops on Prime Video on June 25, 2025.
