Hoda Kotb responds to rumors of taking over The Kelly Clarkson Show
No, Hoda Kotb is not replacing Kelly Clarkson. The 60-year-old TODAY co-host shut down rumors suggesting she might take over Clarkson’s self-titled daytime show.
Craig Melvin brought up the speculation, asking Kotb, “People are seeing these articles, texting these things — Hoda’s getting back in the business, Hoda’s taking over for Kelly Clarkson, Hoda’s doing daytime talk. What say you?” (via TODAY)
To which Kotb answered, “If I ever came back to TV, do you know where the only place I would ever come back to is? Right here. This is the spot. There’s no place like home.” Melvin concluded, “So the rumors are done,” and Kotb quipped, “Delete, delete — not true.”
Shifting focus, Kotb also spoke about her excitement for a new personal project. Joy 101 is a wellness brand that promotes well-being. She explained that it will include an app and a website featuring various wellness resources.
Kotb tells TODAY, Joy 101 is a community as well as, “It’s a retreat in your pocket.” The TV host’s new brand will feature courses and live events with experts. She also shared her plan of hosting an event titled Joy Fest in the upcoming spring. Kotb noted the festival will welcome several “gurus” as speakers.
Kotb went on to share how wellness has impacted her personally. “It was transformative,” she said, recalling how her friend Maria Shriver introduced her to meditation.
“Everywhere I turned, I was trying something new,” Kotb added. “And I just felt like I was telling all my friends about it.”
Eventually, that journey inspired her to create a space of her own — one designed to bring people together. Kotb hopes Joy 101 can help others feel “lighter and better and more joyful, without going 10 different places.”
