Renowned rapper and singer Rodarius Marcell Green, or Rod Wave, as is his professional name, is currently making headlines following his arrest in Georgia. Wave’s detention in a Fulton County jail comes in the wake of an incident that occurred on April 21.
While authorities are maintaining complete radio silence over why they decided to apprehend the Great Gatsby singer, here’s everything we know about his case so far.
Did Rod Wave get arrested?
On May 20, 2025, officials of a Fulton County jail put Rod Wave under arrest due to his involvement in an undisclosed incident from April 21. While the Georgia police have yet to reveal details of the said episode, they have charged the 26-year-old musician with as many as 13 felony counts. The charges against Rod Wave range from aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during a felony, and pointing a gun at someone to criminal damage to property, reckless conduct, and tampering with evidence.
As mentioned before, it remains unknown as to what Rod Wave did to initiate his arrest. However, certain unconfirmed reports indicate that the incident may center around the one-time Billboard Music Awards nominee misbehaving with a woman, according to The Express Tribune. Despite his initial apprehension, officials released Wave on the very same day after the hip-hop artist posted surety bonds.
This would be the third time that the Florida-born singer has encountered legal troubles in his promising yet short career. He infamously faced a dropped battery charge in 2022. Two years later, in 2024, police arrested Rod Wave in a firearm-related case but discarded the case shortly afterward. Despite falling onto the radar of law enforcers due to his antics on a consistent basis, Wave continues to make strides in the music industry. Most recently, he composed a single titled Sinners in collaboration with the Michael B. Jordan-led film of the same name.
At the time of writing, Rod Wave’s legal representatives have yet to issue any official statement regarding his arrest.
