Chris Brown arrested in England, claims report
Authorities arrested Chris Brown in the UK on May 15, 2025. Police apprehended the 36-year-old singer at a hotel in Manchester. They charged him with one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The charge relates to an alleged assault at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London, on February 19, 2023.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Brown remains in custody and will appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 16. A police spokesperson stated, “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been taken into custody where he remains.”
The Crown Prosecution Service stated, “We have authorised [authorized] the Metropolitan Police to charge Chris Brown (dob 5/5/1989) with one count of grievous bodily harm.” CPS Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Adele Kelly added, “Criminal proceedings against this defendant are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.”
Music producer Abe Diaw, the alleged victim, told The Sun in 2023 that Brown hit him on the head with a bottle. He said Brown then punched and kicked him while he lay on the ground. Doctors hospitalized Diaw and discharged him with crutches. He later filed a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against the singer.
The Sun reported that it learned of Brown’s presence in the UK on May 14. This prompted the Metropolitan Police to travel to Manchester and arrest him. The singer’s representatives have not responded to requests for comment.
Chris Brown, known for hits like “Run It,” “Kiss Kiss,” and “Under the Influence,” plans to begin a global tour next month. Organizers have scheduled several shows in the UK.
