Fans React to David Corenswet’s Superman Following New Trailer

Following the release of Superman‘s newest official trailer, which showcased more of David Corenswet‘s titular hero and his personality, fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the portrayal. Releasing in July 2025, the upcoming film directed by James Gunn will serve as the first film of his rebooted DC Universe.

Here’s what fans had to say about David Corenswet’s Superman amidst the new trailer’s release.

How are fans reacting to David Corenswet’s Superman after new trailer?

The newly released Superman trailer sees David Corenswet‘s titular hero deliver some dialogue both as Clark Kent and the Man of Steel. Corenswet’s dialogue delivery and body language gave audiences a glimpse of his Superman’s personality. Viewers also noted how the character’s voice, posture, and mannerisms changed when essaying Kent and Superman separately, particularly when Lois Lane was interviewing him as Superman.

Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Superman’s portrayal in the new trailer. There were both positive and negative reactions.

“I can’t believe we’re getting a movie where Superman has a personality and isn’t just extremely stoic the whole time,” one fan wrote on X (Twitter).

Another fan shared, “It seems this movie dared to ask the bold question ‘what if Superman was an actual three-dimensional character instead of just an idea to worship.'”

“I liked the shot where a civilian helps Superman get up,” a fan commented under the official trailer on YouTube. “The people are there for him when needed.”

Another fan praised the trailer depicting Superman’s frustration at rules being put in place to aid people. Further noting how all the hero wanted to do was simply “help and save” them. They stressed how present Superman movies never explored this facet of the character, except for Smallville.

“It’s crazy to make Superman so weak,” a fan tweeted. “Henry Cavill’s Superman didn’t need the inhabitants to get up when he felt tired.”

One fan compared the reactions of Corenswet’s iteration of Superman to that of Cavill’s when both were confronted with crimes. The former was termed a “beta,” while the latter was called an “alpha.”

Superman takes flight on July 11, 2025. Besides Corenswet, the film also stars Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, and Nathan Fillion, among others.
