The son of the Emmy-winning filmmaker seemingly criticized Zegler for injecting “personal politics” into the promotion of Disney’s multi-million-dollar film remake.

Broadway actor Jonah Platt’s recent Instagram response about Snow White actress Rachel Zegler has received mixed reactions. The 38-year-old took to Instagram to explain his father’s side after a comment alleged, “Your dad flew to NYC to reprimand a young actress? Any words on this? People have the right to free speech, no? Shame on your father.”
Platt had a (now-deleted) lengthy response to the comment. He started off saying, “You really want to do this?” Then, he proceeded to explain, writing, “Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20 year old employee.” (via The Independent)
Platt went on to claim that Zegler was “dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie.” He also mentioned that Zegler had “signed a multi-million-dollar contract” to promote the film.
Platt also blamed the film’s underperformance at the box office on Zegler’s actions, writing, “And her actions clearly hurt the film’s box office.”
Platt further criticized Zegler, saying she “hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires.” He noted, “Tens of thousands of people worked on that film” who “depend on that movie to be successful.” He concluded his criticism, stating, “Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged.”
Meanwhile, Mexican actress Melissa Barrera has extended her support to Rachel Zegler amid Snow White’s controversies. She reshared an Instagram post of Hollywood makeup artist Matt Bernstein that condemned the media scrutiny and praised Zegler as “cool as hell and full of integrity.”
Zegler’s pro-Palestine stance has also gained considerable momentum on X. One user commented, “Despite those who tried to silence her, she stood by her word. And that makes Rachel Zegler the people’s princess.”
