Bosch: Legacy recently returned with its third season. It showcases Kurt Dockweiler’s murder investigation exposing dark secrets while Harry Bosch is disturbed by the disappearance of a family. As fans are hooked on the ongoing season, they are disappointed that the series is now coming to an end. So, is Bosch: Legacy ending after Season 3?
Here is everything you need to know about the conclusion of the crime drama franchise.
Why wasn’t Bosch: Legacy renewed for Season 4?
Bosch: Legacy is ending after Season 3.
Ahead of the Season 3 premiere, Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Freevee announced that the series would be coming to an end with part 3 (via Deadline). Vernon Sanders, Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios, confirmed the conclusion of the popular franchise.
However, the exact reason behind the sudden cancellation isn’t revealed yet. Fans were confused by the conclusion, as the series was reportedly doing well on the platform and they were expecting a Bosch: Legacy Season 4.
Some feel Amazon wouldn’t have been able to handle the production cost of the series. On the other hand, others felt it was due to the near conclusion of the book. For the unversed, Harry Bosch’s series’s last book, titled The Waiting, fouses more on Renee Ballard than the titular character. As a result, the makers may have deemed it fit to end the character’s journey with the third part.
Executive producer and creator Michael Connelly addressed the conclusion of the series. He stated, “I am so proud of what we have accomplished with this show. Ten years ago, I asked Titus Welliver if he could stick with Harry Bosch for five seasons, and he said he could do it forever.” Conelly further added, “Well, five became 10, and the character, thanks to Titus, will live forever in the hearts of viewers and in the streaming world as the detective who knows that everybody counts or nobody counts.”
While Bosch: Legacy Season 4 wont happen, the story is not over yet. The Bosch Universe will be further explored in the Renee Ballard spinoff. It will reportedly premiere in the fall of 2025, focusing on Ballard’s character introduced in Legacy Season 3.
