Chelsea Handler details President George W. Bush meeting

Chelsea Handler has shared in her Netflix special, The Feeling, why she took four edibles before meeting George W. Bush. The 50-year-old standup comedian was close friends with the former president’s daughters, Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager. She gushed in the special that the girls invited her to play pickleball with the Bushes at their home in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Handler shared her initial reaction to the special, explaining that she informed her friends that she “can’t trust” herself in the company of the former president. “I have outbursts,” She said. “And I’m as surprised as the next person when they happen, OK? I don’t know when I’m going to go off on someone, and when I do, I’m also scared for that person.”

Previously, she shared in a Friday interview that she took the edibles to be on her “best behavior.” She recalled taking “a couple of edibles” because she was in a situation where she had to behave herself.

“I have a very special relationship with drugs, and I know exactly what I need and when I need it. And that was an instance where I thought it would be better if my personality was muted,” she added.

Recently, she also told Yahoo Entertainment that the president knew about her “stoned” phase. She said, “I was on four edibles, and I told him I was on four edibles! No, it was not embellished.”

Initially, Handler was under the impression that she might not be meeting the former president. However, George W. Bush came and talked to her at the pickleball court, leaving her surprised.

The comedian has also added that the former president’s family is okay with the story being public knowledge. She told Yahoo, “They were at my show, they saw this show at the Beacon Theatre [in New York City] before I filmed it. So if they had any objections, that was their time to say, but they loved it.”
