In his recently released memoir, Don’t Look Back, You’ll Trip Over: My Guide to Life, retired English thespian Michael Caine has shared an account of how he feels about Taylor Swift. The Interstellar star lauded Swift for her hard-earned success. He also highlighted her part in redefining stardom for the modern-day audience.
Here’s what Caine had to say about the 14-time Grammy winner.
Michael Caine praises Taylor Swift in new book
The two-time Academy Award recipient praised the Blank Space singer for working her way up the ladder in the music industry. Further, he noted, “I think Taylor Swift is incredible, a giant star. You know, she was a country singer to start with? And now she fills stadiums all over the world, with audiences of 100,000, and politicians are desperate for her to support them. That’s extraordinary,” as per Us Weekly.
Michael Caine then doubled down on Taylor Swift‘s hardworking yet humble nature, stating, “You can just tell how much hard work lies behind what she’s achieved, too. It’s no accident. She has really earned her success, and it hasn’t come overnight. She’s down-to-earth, which is almost always part of it. Not spoiled by all the accolades and money. That’s impressive.”
The topic of Taylor Swift popped up as Michael Caine was discussing how the perception of fame in the entertainment industry has evolved over the years. He commented, “People’s attention is more divided than it used to be, there’s more competition from all sorts of directions. There’s not really the sense there used to be of the big cultural event of the week. So, there are definitely fewer actors and musicians whose name alone can guarantee a movie or a record will make money.”
Caine has so far published eight books under his name. Following a few trivia books, he released his first autobiography in 1992. After this, he moved on to the fiction genre with 2023’s Deadly Game.
