Selena Gomez recently launched her new album with Benny Blanco, I Said I Love You First, and the track “Younger and Hotter Than Me” has generated significant interest from fans. This is because of the perception that Gomez referenced fellow artist Taylor Swift‘s song “All Too Well” in it.
So did Selena Gomez mention one of Taylor Swift’s songs in her new album? Here is all you need to know.
Selena Gomez might have referenced Taylor Swift’s song in new album
According to fans, Selena Gomez’s song “Younger and Hotter Than Me” from her album I Said I Love You First, contains some lyrics that are similar to certain lyrics of the 10-minute version of Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well.”
However, Gomez has not confirmed this fan theory, as of writing.
In “Younger and Hotter Than Me,” Gomez sings the following lines: “We’re not getting any younger, But your girlfriends seem to.”
Gomez also sings: “Is she younger and hotter than me? Is it all in my head?”
These verses sound similar to some lines Swift says in the 10-minute version of “All Too Well,” which are: “And I was never good at telling jokes, But the punchline goes ‘I’ll get older, but your lovers stay my age.'”
From both the lyrics, it’s the lines “We’re not getting any younger, but your girlfriends seem to” and “I’ll get older, but your lovers stay my age,” that are the most similar. Both seem to address the idea of at least one significant other aging, while the other’s lovers/girlfriends stay youthful.
Fans took note of the similarities and shared their thoughts on social media.
“woah. the subject matter of this song is reminiscent of all too well a bit,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “especially with the “we’re not getting any younger, but your girlfriends seem to” line. sonically it’s perfect for selena’s voice as well.”
Another fan posted, “younger and hotter than me by Selena reminds me of All Too Well (10 Min Version) by Taylor.”
One fan shared a side-by-side comparison of both lyrics:
Taylor Swift recently congratulated Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco on the new album’s release via Instagram stories. “@selenagomez & @itsbennyblanco I LOVE THIS ALBUM SO MUCH. OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDD,” the Lover singer wrote. (via Elle).
