Jaime King has broken her silence after a difficult legal battle that resulted in her losing physical custody of her two kids. Alongside her custody struggles, King also faced eviction from her Los Angeles home over unpaid rent. Here’s what King said.

Jaime King breaks silence after losing custody of kids

Jaime King recently lost physical custody of her two kids, James and Leo, following a court ruling in favor of her ex-husband, Kyle Newman. While the former couple will continue to share legal custody, Newman has been granted sole physical custody. King is now limited to supervised visits with her children, which are restricted to three times a week.

The custody arrangement was modified after King failed to complete a court-mandated six-month drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. The program required her to undergo weekly testing, attend parenting classes, and participate in both individual and joint counseling with her children. Newman had filed for sole custody in 2024, alleging that he found King intoxicated while she was responsible for their children.

On top of her custody battle, King was recently evicted from her Los Angeles rental after failing to pay over $42,000 in rent. In response to the eviction, King stated that the dispute had been settled privately. She also criticized attempts to use her situation for publicity. The actress emphasized, “It’s disappointing — but not surprising — to see someone try to exploit this moment for attention. I am currently focused on what matters most: my children.” (via US Weekly)

According to legal documents, she had been leasing a Hollywood Hills home for $10,145 per month since April 2023. However, she had stopped making payments in January. Her landlord accused her of staying in the property unlawfully and eventually locked her out. King’s attorney denied these claims. They stated that the actress had been working to pay off her debts while continuing her acting career.
