A street cleaner from Brazil may have to quit keeping the streets clean, because a more lucrative career as a model is quite possible after her photos went viral.
23-year-old Rita Mattos innocently took photos of herself in her street cleaner get-up, only to have her photos spread on WhatsApp (no clue people still used that).
As the attention was pouring in, Rita was a bit weary of it all at first.
“People are surprised when they see a pretty girl working as a street cleaner. They say that I could find a better job than sweeping and weeding, but why should street cleaners, necessarily, be ugly? There is a prejudice against them.”
But of course, money changes everyone’s tune, and now Rita is considering taking her 15 minutes of fame and running with it as far as she can.
“At first I thought it was all a joke in bad taste, that people were criticizing me. But later I saw that the comments were positive, praising my beauty, so I’m now taking it well, and hoping that all this will bring me a good opportunity to find modelling work.”
Rita has now hired an agent. No word yet on how the streets of Brazil will fare without her.
