Week 8 Top Pickups
-
Darrius Heyward-Bey WR - Indianapolis (19% owned)
Another player who is propelling up the ranks due to injury is Heyward-Bey. Receiving a great amount of looks following Reggie Wayne's injury Sunday, Heyward-Bey had over 40 yards receiving, 30 yards rushing and a TD Sunday. He's now the WR2 on the colts (only behind T.Y. Hilton) and will be a fairly solid deap threat for Andrew Luck. He's a must-own.
-
Jarrett Boykin WR - Green Bay (30% owned)
I had Boykin in my Top Pickups last week and his stock is soaring even higher after his eight catch, 103 yard performance with a TD Sunday against the Browns. Add to the fact the Packers lost Jermichael Finley Sunday and that makes Boykin the only real offensive threat the Packres have left. James Jones could be back next week, which means at the very worst, Boykin is a WR2 on an offense that will throw the ball 40-60 times a game.
-
Jordan Reed TE - Washington (25% owned)
Reed hauled in nine passes for 134 yards and a TD Sunday over the Bears, further proving to the fantasy world that he's for real; Fred Davis was healthy this past week and Reed still got the nod over the former star. Reed is on a roll right now as one of RGIII's favorite targets; he's averaged six catches for nearly 81 yards per game over the last three weeks. Suffice to say Reed is currently a TE1 in most leagues and a stud in any man cave.
-
Mike James RB - Tampa Bay (7% owned)
With Doug Martin officially done for the year with a torn labrum, James is a must-add in all leagues. The kid is a sixth round rookie out of Miami but already got 17 touches this past Sunday against Atlanta following Martin's injury; he's also a solid pass catcher as well. I don't trust new quarterback Mike Glennon to throw down field often so James will be a go-to safety valve. Picking up James gives you an automatic RB2 or flex.
-
Peyton Hillis RB - New York Giants (9% owned)
Yes, the Giants are this desperate. Once a heralded blue-collar work horse, Hillis dropped off the face of the earth and the fantasy radar following his 2010 campaign that earned him the cover of Madden. The Giants are banged up though and Hillis and rookie Michael Cox are all the Giants have this week. Pick up Hillis now as a lottery ticket and see what happens, that is, until Brandon Jacobs returns.
