Week 3 Second Guessing
-
Bernard Pierce RB - Baltimore
Ray Rice is very questionable for Sunday's game vs. Houston. Whether he limps out there or not, it will be Pierce getting a majority of the carries. It's Pierce's first career start, but in two seasons in the NFL he's averaged 4.49 YPC. He's a solid back and I would feel comfortable starting him in a RB2 or flex spot. Start eem!
-
David Wilson RB - New York Giants
The Giants have only 73 rushing yards through two games this season. Needless to say their offensive attack has been abysmal. Tom Coughlin hasn't fully trusted Wilson yet -- he tends to go overboard anytime a running back fumbles the ball. Da'Rel Scott might still be stealing carries this weekend. Really the whole offensive scheme is a mess until they find balance. I don't trust Wilson until Coughlin proves he does. For this week, sit eem!
-
DeAndre Hopkins WR - Houston
Hopkins had his career breakout game last week with over 100 yards and the game winning TD. He said he thinks he can be better than Andre Johnson, and I agree -- maybe not this season, but I agree. He has the Ravens this week, who are giving up more than 300 yards per game in the air, plus Johnson may be sidelined with concussion symptoms, making D-Hop a very solid WR3 this week either way. The rookie is a haus! Start eem!
-
Matt Schaub QB - Houston
Schaub is tied for third in the NFL in passing attempts. Arian Foster is in a time-share. The Texans are going to throw a lot against a weak Baltimore pass defense. Schaub just might be a better option this week than Tom Brady (shaky WR corps against a decent Tampa defense), Andrew Luck (against a stout Niners D), Russell Wilson (the Jags have a better D than you realize) or Ben Roethlisberger...(because Roethlisberger has played like himself). Consider a start this week for Schauby. Yes, I just called him Schauby.
-
Rob Gronkowski TE - New England
Gronk is still questionable for Sunday's game vs. Tampa. Either way, if I have a serviceable tight end -- even a guy like Charles Clay -- I'm not starting him. Even if Gronk can take his mummified self out onto the field, I can't see him having a huge day rushing himself back. Most Boston papers are saying he won't be back until at least week 4. Make sure you keep him on your bench this week. Sit eem!
