Noah and the Whale have announced that they are splitting up to focus upon solo projects, after eight years together as a band.
Beginning with their debut album Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down in 2007, the band have transformed from a stomach-churning folk-pop band putting out guff such as their omnipresent hit single ‘5 Years Time’, to producing critically-acclaimed albums such as The First Days of Spring and Last Night on Earth.

In a message to their fans announcing the split, the band said: “There are too many people to mention in this short message but we would like to take this opportunity to give special thanks to all of our amazing fans, who have supported us so magnificently over the years and made everything possible.”
Frontman Charlie Fink recently shared photographs of himself in a recording studio along with launching his own personal website, suggesting that he will be pursuing a solo career following the break-up of the band.
The band’s last LP, Heart of Nowhere, was released in 2013 to much critical praise. The announcement of the split comes after they announced in December 2014 that they would be embarking on a small hiatus from live performances in order to focus upon making new music.
