Cliff Richard’s Home Searched by Police Following Sex Offence Allegations

Sir Cliff Richard’s home has been searched by police following sex offence allegations leveled at the singer.

The 73-year-old, who vehemently denies the charges, was on the receiving end of a police probe at his property in in Berkshire, though was not present during the investigation.

The South Yorkshire police stated that the allegation dates back to the 1980s and involved a boy under the age of 16. Responding to the allegation, Sir Cliff released a statement this afternoon saying: “For many months I have been aware of allegations against me of historic impropriety which have been circulated online.

“The allegations are completely false. Up until now I have chosen not to dignify the allegations with a response, as it would just give them more oxygen.

“However, the police attended my apartment in Berkshire today without notice, except it would appear, to the press.

“I am not presently in the UK but it goes without saying that I will co-operate fully should the police wish to speak to me.

“Beyond stating that today’s allegation is completely false it would not be appropriate to say anything further until the police investigation has concluded.”

The news was initially reported by the BBC, who claim that eight police officers turned up to Cliff Richard’s house in unmarked police cars before searching the premises.

There has been no statement given by police in regards to whether the singer, who was knighted in 1995, will be charged with any offences.
