9-1-1 & 9-1-1: Nashville Stars on the Crossover’s Big Bobby Reveal

The recent crossover event between 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville reeled off action, humor, and emotional moments. But the most touching beat centered on someone who never even appeared on screen: the late Bobby Nash. Actors from both shows opened up about why the late captain’s presence loomed so large during the Firefighter Games.

9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville actors talk about Bobby’s involvement in crossover

When Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) arrived in Music City, they carried more weight than just their competitive gear. They learned Bobby had nominated them for the games before his death. A revelation that hit Eddie especially hard since Bobby submitted his name while Eddie still lived in El Paso.

“Though Peter [Krause] is obviously thriving in his own way, it’s such a strange feeling,” Ryan Guzman told TVLine. “When you’ve worked with somebody for eight years, and then they’re no longer there, it does feel like a death has actually happened. To know that Bobby trusted Eddie would come back to the 118, it’s almost like he knew Eddie better than he knew himself. It was a nice little tip of the hat to how genuine and loving Bobby was.”

For Buck, the news added pressure to excel. “He switched into game mode [in Nashville], whether he’s doing that for healthy reasons or not, I don’t know. But he’s certainly channeling anything he may be feeling at the time and masking it with his competitiveness and just trying to fully commit and throw himself into doing Bobby proud and the whole 118,” Stark told TheWrap.

The emotional throughline continued when 9-1-1: Nashville captain Don raised a glass to Bobby. Don revealed he’d briefly met Bobby at a conference, describing him as “kind” and “incredibly professional.”

With both 9-1-1 shows renewed, fans can expect more connections between the franchises. New episodes air on Thursdays on ABC, with streaming available the next day on Hulu.
