Robin Williams’ blockbuster comedy Night at the Museum has returned to the spotlight. The 2006 family adventure, which grossed around $574 million worldwide, is now making waves on Netflix charts following the streaming debut of the complete trilogy.

Night at the Museum is a hit on Netflix

More than a decade after its theatrical debut, Night at the Museum has found new popularity on streaming. The fantasy-comedy is ranked at number 5 on Netflix‘s Top 10 Movies in the United States for the week of February 2–8, 2026.

This highlights strong viewer interest following the streamer’s release of the complete trilogy on February 1, 2026. In its first week back in the spotlight, the film outperformed several titles. These include Terry McMillan Presents: Forever, Homefront, and Independence Day.

Originally released in theaters on December 22, 2006, Night at the Museum was directed by Shawn Levy and adapted from Milan Trenc’s 1993 children’s book. The story follows Larry Daley, a divorced father who has difficulty keeping a steady job. Hoping to improve his situation and be a better example for his son, Larry accepts a job as a night security guard at the American Museum of Natural History.

However, the uneventful job takes an unexpected turn when Larry discovers that the museum’s exhibits come to life after closing time. Now, he must decide whether to walk away in search of another opportunity or manage the lively exhibits.

Ben Stiller leads the cast as Larry Daley in Night at the Museum. Other cast members include Jake Cherry as Nick Daley, Carla Gugino as Rebecca Hutman, Dick Van Dyke as Cecil Fredericks, Mickey Rooney as Gus, and Bill Cobbs as Reginald among others.

Critical reviews at the time of release was mixed. The film holds a 42 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, audience responded more favorably, awarding it a 67 percent rating. Commercially, the film proved to be a clear success. According to Box Office Mojo, it earned approximately $574 million worldwide
