Halle Berry has spoken candidly about the way age is treated in Hollywood while promoting her upcoming thriller Crime 101. Speaking recently with Variety about reactions to her character being criticized for her age, the actor said that it was a message to provoke reflection in the industry. “It’s a message to whoever has ears and heart to absorb it. You know, its wrong,” she noted.

The actor added that she believes women have far more to contribute well into their later years. She said, “And I think as women, we have to reclaim the narrative that we’re not done at 50, 60, or 70. We have so much more to offer.” Berry also noted that she is approaching 60 and feels creatively renewed. She said, “I am 60 this year and I feel like I am just getting my second groove started. So, not done.”

The star has made similar remarks in earlier interviews, where she rejected the idea that aging should carry any stigma. Speaking previously to The Times, Berry explained, “Why do we have to be ashamed of the most natural thing that happens to all of us? I’m not having the problem; society has the problem.”

She argued that the society often tries to limit actresses once they reach a certain age, a standard she refuses to accept. “I know I’m more valuable now than ever. Wiser, smarter, stronger, better,” she added.

Berry’s latest film Crime 101 is set for theatrical release on February 13, 2026. She stars as Sharon Colvin, an insurance broker in the film, which is written and directed by Bart Layton.
