Supergirl Report Gives Early Verdict on DCU Movie

A new report suggests that the response to the most recent test screening of Supergirl was positive. Being the next major DCU film after Superman, there is considerable anticipation surrounding the movie.

The upcoming film will see Milly Alcock‘s eponymous protagonist take center stage, following her brief appearance at the end of James Gunn’s film. It will explore the character’s backstory, which is expected to be a dark tale that heavily contrasts with Superman’s hopeful upbringing.

Supergirl test screenings suggest another great DCU outing

Prominent industry scooper, Daniel RPK, recently shared on X (formerly Twitter) that another test screening for Supergirl took place. He added, “I’m hearing once again that the movie is VERY good.” Notably, RPK earlier shared in December 2025 that he heard the film was “very good.”

Meanwhile, fellow scooper Axel, citing a source, offered more information regarding the response to the screenings. The source said the film’s cinematography was superior to Superman’s and highlighted a “specific hallway scene,” which he compared to Daredevil and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s action sequences. They added that the film was “a perfect balance of humor, darkness, and lightness.”

The source also shared that the movie’s tone was “much darker and serious” compared to Superman’s lighter tone, noting that human trafficking and violence were major plot points of the film.

Further, the scooper praised Matthias Schoenaerts’ performance as Krem of the Yellow Hills, describing him as an “extremely ‘menacing’ and a tremendous villain.” They also said that Jason Momoa’s Lobo played a key role in the film, adding that he is pivotal to the movie’s ending.

Yet another scooper, Cryptic4KQual, backed Axel’s information about the film, saying it “lines up.” However, he said that his sources didn’t like Krem, whom they labeled “lame/underwhelming.”

Meanwhile, in another post, the scooper claimed that the film was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Superman, Logan, Man of Steel, and HBO’s The Last of Us, wrapped in one package, albeit “without the R-rated elements.” They wrote, “Whoever’s seen it would probably understand my film choices. Krypto is Rocket, Kara is Joel/Logan lol.”

First reactions were also reportedly positive. User The Moonlight Warrior wrote that multiple people from SAG said Supergirl was “amazing.” One user responded, saying they knew someone from the screening. They added that the person told them the film had “a very positive reception.” They further shared that the person believed the film would be “very well received” on its theatrical release.
