Anthony Davis Calls Out ‘Lies’ Amid Surgery Report for Hand Injury

Power forward Anthony Davis is none too pleased with a recent report saying that he is expected to “miss several months” due to needing surgery. The 32-year-old Dallas Mavericks player suffered a hand injury when defending against a drive by Utah Jazz’s Lauri Markkanen late in the fourth quarter on Thursday, January 8. An MRI taken the following day revealed that Davis had ligament damage in his left hand, which sources now say will require surgery to repair. However, the player is seemingly dismissing news of the report.

Report says Davis will be out for “several months”

About an hour after ESPN wrote a report revealing that sources said Anthony Davis would need to undergo surgery for his hand, he responded on X (formerly Twitter) with a short rebuke on Tuesday, February 13.

“Yall better stop listening to all these lies on these apps!” he wrote, in a post that has since received over 1.3 million views and over 16,000 likes.

This caused fans to reply with confused responses, with one suggesting that the 10-time All-Star wasn’t going to get surgery after all and another asking him whether he’s actually hurt or not. Others believe Davis is attempting to protect his position while talks about him being traded have heightened after news of his injury spread over the weekend. Several teams, including the Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks, have been interested in getting him on their roster in the past.

Earlier this season, Davis suffered injuries to his lower foot and Achilles tendon, which took him out for several weeks. Still, the team has been better with the All-Star in the lineup than without him.

In February, he was controversially traded to the Mavericks as part of a deal that saw Luka Doncic head to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Last week, Lebron James revealed that his 11-year-old daughter was responsible for styling his look. Meanwhile, Knicks guard Jalen Brunson accidentally broke Martha Stewart’s toe.
