Power Rangers Disney+ TV Show Release Date Gets Huge Update

Disney’s Power Rangers reboot just received a significant update regarding its potential release timeline. As development progresses behind the scenes, new production details suggest when audiences might expect the TV show to arrive on Disney+.

Disney’s Power Rangers reboot could get a 2027 release date

Disney’s Power Rangers reboot is reportedly set to begin filming in early spring 2026, with casting nearly complete. On January 11, 2026, @MyTimeToShineHello posted on X (formerly Twitter), “I hear they are planning to shoot the Disney+ reboot in March and casting is close to being done.” While there is no official release date, production timelines point to a potential 2027 debut on Disney+.

The production team will release promotional tie-ins throughout the year. These include a one-shot mystery comic in May and a new comic run later in 2026. The team also plans merchandise releases. These include Playmates Godzilla x Power Rangers action figures in late 2026 and Power Rangers Zeo Funko Pops in early 2026.

Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz previously led Percy Jackson and the Olympians. They will serve as showrunners for the reboot. The team will reinvent the series from the ground up. For the first time in franchise history, the series will exclude footage from Japan’s Super Sentai. This change gives the showrunners greater creative freedom. It removes the need to adapt existing footage.

The Japanese series Super Sentai, which inspired Power Rangers, will reportedly end in 2026 after a 50-year run. This development enables Power Rangers to break from its traditional format and evolve independently. Disney+, Hasbro, and 20th Century Television are collaborating on the new series to reintroduce the brand with original visuals and content.

The creators have not yet announced the storyline or cast. However, industry sources confirm that development is actively moving forward. The team plans to launch a full promotional campaign throughout 2026 in preparation for the expected release.
