All 5 Seasons of Hit Comedy-Drama Series Are Leaving Netflix Soon

A notable comedy-drama series headlined by Marvel star Don Cheadle and Veronica Mars alum Kristen Bell, House of Lies, is leaving Netflix soon. The show, set against the backdrop of the financial world, originally aired on Showtime between 2012 and 2016.

Matthew Carnahan, best known for his work on shows like Dirt, Fastlane, and Valley of the Boom, created the series. Carnahan also served as one of the executive producers, alongside Cheadle, Jessica Borsiczky, and Stephen Hopkins.

House of Lies leaves Netflix this month

All five seasons of House of Lies, which started streaming on Netflix on July 23, 2025, will depart the platform on January 23, 2026, according to the official website. Accordingly, subscribers have 16 days to catch the series on the platform before it leaves.

The first four seasons of the show include 12 episodes, while the fifth and final season has a slightly shorter episode count of 10. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series has an audience score of 84%. Here are the audience scores of each of the five seasons:

  • Season 1 – 78% (rotten score – 58%)
  • Season 2 – 88%
  • Season 3 – 90%
  • Season 4 – 86%
  • Season 5 – 79%

Meanwhile, Metacritic has given the comedy-drama a Metascore of 63 and a user score of 6.2, both of which indicate “generally favorable” reception. House of Lies is based on Martin Kihn’s 2005 book of the same name.

The narrative explores the professional and personal life of Marty Kaan (Don Cheadle), a manipulative and opportunistic yet charming management consultant. He initially works as a partner at the consultancy firm Galweather Stearn, where he leads a team consisting of engagement manager Jeannie van der Hooven (Kristen Bell), Clyde Oberholt, and Doug Guggenheim.

Although Kaan finds considerable success at the firm, he eventually leaves it to manage his own firm, Kaan & Associates, where he and his team use unscrupulous methods to impress clients and close business deals.

The storytelling incorporates the fourth wall method, wherein Kaan frequently talks to the viewers directly to explain business jargon, events taking place in the series, and his schemes.

Besides Cheadle, who directed four episodes of the series, and Bell, House of Lies also stars Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson, Donis Leonard Jr., Glynn Turman, and Dawn Olivieri, among others.
