Ahsoka Actor Could Be MJ’s New Boyfriend in Spider-Man 4

A new rumor suggests that Ahsoka star Eman Esfandi has joined Spider-Man 4‘s cast as MJ’s boyfriend. The highly anticipated MCU film is seven months away from release, but rumored plot and cast details have been surfacing, giving insight into the film’s possible narrative and character arcs.

Ezra actor Eman Esfandi rumored to play MJ’s new boyfriend

As per a new rumor, Ahsoka actor Eman Esfandi will reportedly play Michelle “MJ” Jones’ new boyfriend in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

This rumor comes from prominent industry scooper Daniel Richtman, who shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Esfandi’s character will not have a beard.

Richtman didn’t mention the name of Esfandi’s character. However, a majority of fans initially anxiously speculated that he could be playing Paul Rabin. For the unversed, Paul is a controversial character in Marvel Comics’ Amazing Spider-Man series, who becomes Mary Jane “MJ” Watson’s boyfriend. Following his creation, Paul was negatively received by fans. This is because they viewed him as a plot device from Marvel editorial to keep MJ and Peter Parker separated.

Some fans expressed relief at the possibility of Esfandi not playing Paul after Richtman said his character wouldn’t have a beard. In addition, Richtman’s scoop prompted some to speculate that he could be playing Harry Osborn or Eddie Brock.

Ultimately, Esfandi’s involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is nothing more than a rumor. Accordingly, fans must wait until the film comes out to see if the Ahsoka actor will appear in it.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31, 2026. Destin Daniel Cretton helmed the film from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers’ screenplay. Notably, McKenna and Sommers co-wrote the screenplays for previous MCU Spider-Man films.

Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps and, as such, are unclear. However, what’s certain is that the film will see Peter Parker (Tom Holland) focus on his superheroics as Spider-Man after the world’s knowledge of his civilian persona was erased at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Notably, Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) are expected to play substantial roles in the film.
