Beloved Robert Downey Jr. Comedy Is Dominating on Streaming

A popular comedy movie headlined by Robert Downey Jr., Due Date, has become one of the top 10 films currently streaming on HBO Max worldwide. The black comedy road film was helmed by Todd Phillips. It co-stars Zach Galifianakis, who worked with Phillips on The Hangover trilogy.

The movie originally premiered on November 5, 2010, to mixed critical reception. Besides Downey and Galifianakis, the film also stars Michelle Monaghan, Jamie Foxx, Juliette Lewis, and Danny McBride, among others.

Robert Downey Jr.‘s comedy movie Due Date has placed at #7 in the list of top 10 movies currently streaming on HBO Max, as per FlixPatrol. Accordingly, the film, which has 84 popularity points, surpasses MEGAN 2.0, A Carpenter Christmas Romance, and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

However, it is surpassed by One Battle After Another (which is at #1 with 626 points), Hell of a Summer, The Polar Express, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, The Grinch, and Christmas with the Kranks.

Due Date has a rotten score of 39% and an audience score of 52% on Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, review aggregator website Metacritic has given the film a metascore of 51 and a user score of 6.3. The former, drawn from 39 critic reviews, indicates “mixed or average” perception. Meanwhile, the latter denotes a “generally favorable” perception based on 327 user ratings.

The film follows Peter Highman (Downey), an architect preparing to travel from Atlanta to Los Angeles to be with his pregnant wife, Sarah (Monaghan), for the birth of their first child. He meets Ethan Tremblay (Galifianakis), an aspiring actor also traveling to LA with his dog, Sonny.

Unfortunately, they are thrown out of the plane when Ethan misuses words like “terrorist” and “bomb” while talking to Peter. Peter soon finds himself in a messy predicament after being put on the No Fly list and losing his wallet. He subsequently agrees to drive with Ethan to LA, kickstarting a complicated journey where the pair form an unlikely bond.

In addition to directing the film, Todd Phillips also co-wrote the screenplay with Alan Freedland, Alan R. Cohen, and Adam Sztykiel. Freedland and Cohen also worked on the film’s story.
