Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, the dynamic duo, reunite once again in a crime thriller. They introduced a new sneak peek for their upcoming Netflix film, The Rip, as a Christmas gift for fans.

The start of the trailer, uploaded to Netflix’s YouTube channel, features Damon with a football in his hand, while Affleck holds a gift-wrapped box. “Happy holidays, everyone,” said Damon, after which Affleck added, “We got you something special.”

“The gift of never-before-seen footage from The Rip,” Matt continued. Affleck then jokingly added, “And I was just gonna give them socks.” Directed by Joe Carnahan, The Rip comes out on January 16 on Netflix.

The film features a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle, Scott Adkins, Teyana Taylor, and Steven Yeun, among others. It follows a group of Miami cops that come across a huge stash of cash. Soon, as outsiders get to know about their find, the situation gets increasingly volatile, with loyalties tested and every decision carrying dangerous consequences.

Damon and Affleck have appeared together in many films over the years, with their most recent collaboration, before The Rip, being Air (2023). The Good Will Hunting actors also serve as producers for their upcoming film, with their production company, Artists Equity, founded in 2022. The first trailer for the film came out in September 2025 and currently has around 5.7 million views on YouTube.

The synopsis of the film reads, “After a team of Miami cops discovers millions in cash inside a derelict stash house, trust frays as everything — and everyone — is called into question.”
