Kevin Bacon’s psychological thriller The Following is headed to Netflix, where the complete three-season series will soon be available to stream. The move marks a return for the FOX crime drama, offering viewers another opportunity to watch the thriller series.
The Following Season 1, 2 and 3 will stream on Netflix soon
Netflix will soon add Kevin Bacon’s to its streaming library, bringing the full run of the crime thriller series to the platform in January 2026. The series will be available in full from January 3, 2026, as per What’s on Netflix.
The move gives subscribers another opportunity to rewatch the FOX drama, which originally aired from January 21, 2013 to May 18, 2015, and built a loyal audience during its three-season run.
The story centers on former FBI agent Ryan Hardy, who is pulled back into the field when Joe Carroll, a notorious serial killer he captured years earlier, escapes from prison. Carroll, an English professor and novelist with a fixation on Edgar Allan Poe, murdered 14 women before his imprisonment. During his time behind bars, he secretly built a network of followers who share his violent ideology.
Once free, Carroll activates his followers, who carry out murders, kidnappings, and other crimes on his behalf. As the investigation progresses, the scope of the danger becomes increasingly clear. Soon, it becomes clear that the killings are driven by Carroll’s desire for revenge, with Ryan Hardy as his primary target.
Created by Kevin Williamson, the series is led by Bacon as Ryan Hardy. The other cast members include James Purefoy as Joe Carroll, Shawn Ashmore as Mike Weston, Natalie Zea as Claire Matthews, Jeananne Goossen as Jennifer Mason, and Annie Parisse as Debra Parker, among others.
During its original broadcast, The Following received industry recognition, including nominations from the People’s Choice Awards and the Saturn Awards. Its arrival on Netflix is expected to introduce the series to a new audience while offering longtime viewers a chance to rewatch the show at one place.
