A new update on Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot sheds light on the project’s current development phase. Recent reports point to progress on the script and outline when casting may officially begin. With the reboot set to reshape the mutant legacy within the MCU, speculation around the lineup continues to grow.
X-Men reboot likely to pick up the pace in early 2026
Entertainment scooper @MyTimeToShineHello shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Marvel already eyeing some big names for their X-Men reboot. They’re currently rewriting the script and will start officially casting early 2026.”
Reports suggest Marvel Studios is considering Millie Bobby Brown for a role in the X-Men reboot. The source on X stated, “SCOOP: Millie Bobby Brown is being eyed to play an X-Men in the MCU reboot. Who do you want her to play?” While the studio hasn’t linked her to a specific character, online speculation points to Jean Grey, Kitty Pryde, Mystique, or Rogue.
Marvel Studios confirmed it will integrate the X-Men reboot into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with an entirely new cast, following its acquisition of the rights from 20th Century Fox. The studio tapped Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier to lead the project. Marvel has not announced an official production or release timeline.
The studio plans to release the reboot after Avengers: Secret Wars, set to premiere on December 17, 2027. This positions the reboot in the post-Multiverse Saga phase of the MCU.
Alongside Millie Bobby Brown, several actors have surfaced in casting rumors. Reports indicate Marvel is eyeing Jesse Plemons for Beast, Julia Butters for Kitty Pryde, Hunter Schafer for Mystique, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss for Jubilee, Cynthia Erivo for Storm, Margaret Qualley for Rogue, and both Harris Dickinson and Jack Champion for Cyclops.
Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed any casting choices.
