Sean Combs: The Reckoning sets Netflix premiere date

The four-part documentary series Sean Combs: The Reckoning will premiere globally on Netflix on December 2.

Directed by Alexandria Stapleton and executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, the docuseries explores the rise and controversies surrounding Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, Puff Daddy, and Love (via Deadline).

Produced by House of Nonfiction, G-Unit Film & Television, and Texas Crew Productions, the documentary examines Combs’ ascent in the music industry through Bad Boy Entertainment. He played a pivotal role in mainstreaming hip-hop and launching the careers of artists like The Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, and Danity Kane. According to the logline, the series is “a staggering examination of the media mogul, music legend, and convicted offender.”

The docuseries includes “explosive, never-before-seen materials,” and exclusive interviews with former associates, friends, artists, and employees. It portrays Combs as a powerful figure who built a successful empire whilst also exploring his darker sides.

Director Alexandria Stapleton commented, “Being a woman in the industry, and going through the Me Too movement… When Cassie dropped her lawsuit, I just thought this could go a million different directions.”

She added, “This isn’t just about the story of Sean Combs or the story of Cassie… Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal.”

Curtis Jackson noted, “I’ve been committed to real storytelling for years through G-Unit Film & Television. I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories.” Casting and on-camera participants have not yet been disclosed.
