Doomsday Said To Improve on the Last 2 Avengers Movies in 1 Big Way

A new update on Avengers: Doomsday is shifting expectations for Joe and Anthony Russo’s MCU comeback. After years of skepticism surrounding their post-Endgame work, the director duo’s next Avengers movie already surpasses their recent projects in one major way.

Expect Avengers: Doomsday to look visually stunning

The Russo Brothers’ return to Marvel has carried both excitement and concern. Their last MCU project, Avengers: Endgame, became one of the biggest blockbusters in history. But their work outside the franchise has struggled, with their three non-MCU films averaging a 32.3% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans who once championed the directors began to wonder if the duo thrived only inside Marvel’s tightly structured world.

That conversation appears to be changing. According to insider Daniel Richtman, Avengers: Doomsday may be their strongest, visually stunning project yet. Richtman claimed, “I have heard ‘Doomsday’ looks way better visually than the Russos’ other Marvel films.” This update alone has sparked fresh optimism, especially since Infinity War and Endgame are widely considered the pinnacle of the Russo brothers’ career.

If this visual leap holds true, Marvel’s 2026 crossover event could stand out not just among the Russos’ filmography but within the franchise itself. Moreover, the positive buzz around Doomsday arrives at an important time for Marvel Studios. As recent reports suggest, the company hopes to keep the Russos involved beyond Doomsday and Secret Wars.

The film is also going to be Robert Downey Jr.’s dramatic and much-awaited MCU return. Instead of reprising Tony Stark, Downey will take on the role of Doctor Doom, a multiversal villain who is the central threat of the story. This tangent alone sets the story for a darker, more visually dynamic Avengers movie, as heroes from multiple realities join forces against Victor Von Doom’s escalating ambitions.

Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely are writing the script. Other key cast members include Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Vanessa Kirby, and many more.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
