With Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 fall finale ending in a massive cliffhanger, actor Camilla Luddington has shared her views on what might happen to her character, Jo Wilson. In a recent interview, the Californication star opened up about the fate of Dr. Wilson in the beloved medical drama, stating that something “really dark” is about to happen in the next episode.
Camilla Luddington asks fans to ‘emotionally prepare’ themselves for next Grey’s Anatomy episode
While speaking to TheWrap about the much-discussed mid-season finale of Grey’s Anatomy Season 22, Luddington remarked that fans are in for an emotional rollercoaster when the ABC series returns with new episodes in January 2026.
“This one and then the next episode after this, it’s really dark,” the 41-year-old actress noted.
Notably, Luddington’s Jo Wilson suffers a terrifying complication in the recently released Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 Episode 6. Struggling with heart troubles due to her pregnancy, Jo hesitantly agrees to undergo a C-section surgery in a bid to save the lives of her unborn twins. However, with only a little time to spare, Dr. Winston Ndugu decides to perform the risky procedure himself, despite having never practiced the surgery since his medical school days.
“This is a situation where everything hangs in the balance, and survival is not guaranteed for a lot of us involved. The cost of a mistake could be everything,” said Luddington while referring to the precarious situation that her character finds herself in.
“If there’s one word to sit on, it would be ‘brutal.’ Emotionally prepare because the next episode coming up after this, it is worse, to be honest,” she added. However, with Grey’s Anatomy having just entered a hiatus period, fans will have to wait until next year to find out what happens to Jo. “Just drink a lot of wine and try to compartmentalize this is not happening on Grey’s Anatomy until January,” Luddington said.
The series will be back in 2026, with the seventh episode of Season 22 scheduled to come out on January 8.
