Man of Tomorrow To Bring in a Cyborg (But Not the 1 You Think)

The DCU’s upcoming slate continues to take shape as new details emerge about the next chapter in Superman’s story. Following recent casting confirmations and interconnected world-building across multiple projects, Man of Tomorrow is now gaining attention for a potential character expansion. Early reports suggest the sequel may introduce another key figure tied to the DCU’s evolving cybernetic mythology.

Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow could bring in Sasha Bordeaux

A new rumor suggests that Sol Rodríguez will reprise her DCU role as Sasha Bordeaux in Man of Tomorrow. The scoop originated from @MyTimeToShineHello on X (formerly Twitter), who posted, “I hear Sol Rodriguez will be in Man of Tomorrow.” This follows actor Frank Grillo’s confirmation that his Peacemaker character, Rick Flag Sr., will also return in the upcoming sequel to Superman (2025).

James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow, written and directed by the DC Studios co-CEO, will continue Superman’s story following the events of the first film. David Corenswet will return as Clark Kent/Superman, alongside Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Isabela Merced will portray Hawkgirl and Frank Grillo will return as Rick Flag Sr., while reports suggest Aaron Pierre may play Green Lantern and John Cena may reprise Peacemaker.

Peacemaker Season 2 introduced Sasha Bordeaux, who left A.R.G.U.S. to join Checkmate. The finale briefly showcased her cybernetic abilities, setting up potential expansion in future projects. Reports indicate that Man of Tomorrow will depict Superman and Lex Luthor reluctantly joining forces to face a larger threat, widely believed to be Brainiac.

Gunn addressed the speculation, stating, “Listen, of course I wasn’t unaware that when I posted the cover of the script there was going to be discussion around that particular topic… but I think we’ll hold off from what exactly is happening” (via Entertainment Weekly).

Gunn also explained the connection between Peacemaker and Man of Tomorrow, saying, “Everything’s connected, so there is a story here that we’re telling throughout the DCU, and this is connected very much to Man of Tomorrow.” He added, “It’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie.”

Warner Bros. will release Man of Tomorrow in theaters on July 9, 2027.
