Donald Trump Finally Addresses Rumor His Gold White House Decorations Come From Home Depot

President Donald Trump has finally weighed in on rumors that the gold decor he added to the Oval Office were from Home Depot. In September, the president boasted that he had transformed the office into a “24-karat-gold” haven, but some skeptics theorized that the golden figurines, medallions, and eagle statues weren’t what they seemed to be. Some compared the ornaments to plastic embellishments that can be purchased from the home improvement reatiler for $30 to $60 and then coated in gold paint. This prompted Fox News host Laura Ingraham to ask Donald Trump about the rumor while the president gave her an extensive tour of The White House.

Laura Ingraham says Trump’s gold accents in Oval office are “real”

In a preview of her two-part interview with Trump that was shared on Instagram, Laura Ingraham asked Donald Trump on why he chose gold instead of, say, silver for the new accents in the Oval Office.

“You know the one thing with gold? You can’t imitate gold, real gold. There’s no paint that imitates gold,” he said. Trump has previously stated that the renovations he made to the presidential workspace were to make it feel more like Mar-A-Lago.

Ingraham responded, “So these aren’t, like, from Home Depot?”

This prompted the president to provide the same answer twice in quick succession. “No, this is not Home Depot Stuff. This is not Home Depot.”

Ingraham posted the short clip on social media with the caption, “In the Oval Office with President Trump and can confirm that is REAL gold!”

Trump previously showed off the gold decorations in the Oval Office in May, per a report from Inside Edition. “It becomes more and more beautiful with love — you know, we handle it with great love — and 24-karat gold,” he said. “That always helps, too.”

Donald Trump has bragged about the installment of a large ballroom in The White House, though his wife Melania wants nothing to do with the project.

The president has suggested giving $2000 “dividends” and direct health care payments to Americans amid the issue of affordability and cost of living across the country.
