A recall of more than 800,000 Peloton bikes has been issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) over a faulty seat post. Two people have been injured due to the post possibly breaking during use, which can cause a fall injury to the rider on the exercise bike, according to a CPSC report released on Thursday, November 6. The bike model affected by this recall is the Peloton Original Series Bike+ that was sold in the United States and Canada. Here’s what to do if you own one of these recalled bikes.
Two injuries reported in Peloton bike seat post recall
The recall impacts about 875,000 Peloton Original Series Bike+ units manufactured between 2019 and 2022 with model number PL02 and serial numbers starting with the letter ‘T.’ The serial number can found in various locations on the equipment: inside the front fork, behind the front fork, or behind the flywheel.
Peloton has received three reports so far about the seat post breaking and detaching from the bike while it is in use, with two of those reports leading to fall injuries. Any customers who have experienced an incident involved with the broken seat post are encouraged to report it to the company.
The affected bikes were sold in multiple storefronts online and offline between January 2020 and April 2025. This includes Dick’s Sporting Goods, Peloton stores, Ebay, Amazon, and more.
On its official website, Peloton urges owners of the affected bikes not to use them until further notice. Customers will not need to return the equipment and can contact the company for a free replacement seat post that can be self-installed. No refunds for the affected Peloton Original Series Bike+ will be offered.
For more information on the recall, customers can call Peloton toll-free at (833) 821-0099 from 6 AM ET to 12 AM ET, 7 days a week.
More than 1 million Toyota vehicles were recalled this week over a potential fire risk, while three Coca-Cola products have been recalled over metal contamination.
