A nationwide Bio Ionic curling iron recall has been issued due to the product causing multiple burn injuries. The popular brand, also known as Bioionic, will be pulling the curling iron from numerous retailers and beauty supply stores including Amazon, Sephora, Salon Centric, Ulta, and Nordstrom. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) identified a defect with the Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Iron where the barrel can suddenly snap and detach. The product has been sold for around $165.
Bio Ionic recall impacts over 350,000 curling irons
The recall impacts approximately 357,000 units of the Bio Ionic curling iron, which was manufactured in China and were sold across the United States and Canada from August 2022 to July 2024, according to a report by the CPSC issued on October 23, 2025.
There have been over 250 reports of the curling iron barrel detaching and causing six minor burn injuries. As such, it is recommended that customers stop using the product immediately.
The specific model of the Bio Ionic curling iron in question is number LXT-CL-1.0 with a date code between 0722 and 1223. (This means the product was manufactured between July 2022 and December 2023.)
The product weighing 15 ounces and being around 18 inches long can be further identified by its black handle, black barrel, and a handle that has a blue BIOIONIC logo (specifically, BIO IONIC with some blue dots between the two words) and a rating label that has the model number written on it. The date code, in the format MMYY for the month and year, can be found along the prongs of the plug.
Affected customers can contact Bio Ionic via email or through its official site for a replacement. They will be asked to cut the plug off the curling iron before sending it back using a prepaid shipping label.
Other notable recalls this month have impacted Coca-Cola and Tesla.
