Star Wars Rumor Gives Update on Daisy Ridley’s Rey Movie

A new rumor has sparked fresh discussion about Daisy Ridley’s next Star Wars project. The film, which continues Rey Skywalker’s story after The Rise of Skywalker, has seen several creative shifts since its announcement. While few official details have surfaced, recent insider updates hint at behind-the-scenes developments shaping the movie’s current direction.

Daisy Ridley’s Rey movie said to be on hold

Industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello reported on October 22, 2025, that Lucasfilm has placed Daisy Ridley’s upcoming Star Wars film on hold. The insider posted on X (formerly Twitter), “The Rey movie is on hold until Lucasfilm approve the new script.”

The post follows months of speculation about the status of Star Wars: New Jedi Order, which continues Rey Skywalker’s story after The Rise of Skywalker. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will direct the film, and George Nolfi is currently writing the latest version of the script. The insider claims that Lucasfilm must approve Nolfi’s new draft before production can proceed.

Earlier this year, Daniel Richtman reported that Lucasfilm prioritized other Star Wars projects, including Shawn Levy’s Starfighter and James Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi. His update supports MyTimeToShineHello’s recent post, confirming that the Rey-led film faces a delay rather than cancellation. Richtman and other industry sources noted that the project remains “temporarily on hold” while Lucasfilm reviews its upcoming theatrical slate (via MovieWeb).

Daisy Ridley previously commented on the delays in February 2025, saying the additional time would allow the team to “make sure that this script is the best way to tell this story.” She added, “I don’t think any fans would want it to be rushed. The wait will be worth it” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

While Lucasfilm has not issued an official statement, MyTimeToShineHello’s post marks the first recent update confirming the film’s pause pending script approval.
