Iconic Game Show Spin-off Renewed for Season 2, Shockingly Moves to Netflix

Netflix is expanding its slate of unscripted entertainment with the addition of a major quiz-based series previously hosted on Amazon Prime Video. The move highlights shifting dynamics in the streaming industry as platforms compete to secure popular interactive titles. It also signals Netflix’s growing focus on audience-driven formats ahead of several planned game show releases in 2026.

Pop Culture Jeopardy! Season 2 renewed, moves to Netflix

Pop Culture Jeopardy! has been renewed for a second season and will officially move from Prime Video to Netflix. Colin Jost, who hosted the first season that premiered in December 2024, is currently in talks to return as host. The series, a spin-off of the classic Jeopardy! franchise, will premiere its next season in 2026.

The decision to relocate the show follows strategic changes within Amazon’s unscripted programming division. Former Netflix executive Peter Friedlander recently became Amazon’s new global head of television, while other key unscripted leaders, including Jenny Falkoff and Alysia Russo, have since joined Netflix. According to Variety, Amazon and Sony Pictures Television mutually agreed to find a new home for the quiz show.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television’s Game Show Division, Pop Culture Jeopardy! features contestants competing in teams of three through categories covering pop culture staples such as alternative rock, the Avengers, Broadway, and Gen Z icons. The first season concluded in March 2025, with team Personality Hires consisting of Emily Hogg, Zach Gozlan, and Miranda Onnen winning the $300,000 grand prize.

Suzanne Prete, president of game shows at Sony Pictures Television, said, “Pop Culture Jeopardy! captivated an audience with its fun and energetic game play, building on the beloved franchise and offering fans an opportunity to test their zeitgeist knowledge. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be partnering with the exemplary team at Netflix to bring more episodes to our passionate and loyal viewers.”

The show was initially part of Amazon’s Winning Wednesdays lineup alongside Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? hosted by Travis Kelce and Buy It Now with JB Smoove. Michael Davies will continue as executive producer.
