James Wan‘s next horror movie, Other Mommy‘s release date has been pushed. The film is set to be directed by Rob Savage, with Wan producing it. The cast features Jessica Chastain, Dichen Lachman, Jay Duplass, and many others.
Other Mommy delayed to October 2026
The upcoming horror movie produced by James Wan, Other Mommy, is delayed, and its release date has been pushed to October 2026. The movie is now scheduled to be out on October 9, 2026. Previously, Other Mommy was slated to release on May 8, 2026 (via The Hollywood Reporter).
After giving a fitting farewell to the Warrens in the Conjuring Universe through The Conjuring: Last Rites, Wan has now set his eyes on this new horror venture. Produced by Wan, Other Mommy is being written by Succession writer Nathan Elston.
It is an adaptation of the 2024 novel by Josh Malerman, titled Incidents Around the House, which focuses on a young girl living with her parents who are going through a rough patch. In between all this, an entity starts to haunt their home, whom the girl refers to as the “Other Mommy.”
While details regarding the plot of the movie are currently under wraps, in July 2025, it was announced that Sean Kaufman of The Summer I Turned Pretty and Adam Silver are joining the cast. Child actress Arabella Olivia Clark is reportedly expected to be the main lead of the film.
While speaking to Collider in August 2025, Wan spoke about Other Mommy, saying, “Working with Rob and talking to him about some of the set pieces and how he wanted to approach Other Mommy is really, really cool. And I don’t know, there’s something special about this film that I can’t quite put my finger on, but I just kind of feel it.”
