Countdown Creator Gives Exciting Plot & Cast Update for Season 2

Even though the Jenson Ackles series Countdown has just finished debuting its first season, showrunner Derek Haas already seems to have charted out a rough blueprint for Season 2. In a recent interview, the veteran film and television writer provided some insight into his plans for a potential sequel season for Prime Video’s latest crime drama while also hinting at the potential season’s cast.

Derek Haas says he wants to ‘do multiple missions’ in Countdown Season 2

During a conversation with TV Insider, Haas remarked that he intends for the next season of Countdown to cover a number of missions, provided that Prime Video green-lights it. Additionally, he also shared the cast members he’d like to return, alongside characters that could debut in a potential Season 2.

“I want to do multiple missions in a Season 2, not just this plus one. So I don’t want to tell the audience when this would wrap up because I think that was a good shocker on [Episode] 10 and this one, I don’t think it’s easy from here,” the 55-year-old producer said.

Talking about how the dynamics between Oliveras, Julio, and Mark might develop, Haas noted, “If she survives, what’s going to happen after this scene in that triangle is going to make for some really interesting episodes to come, if we get a Season 2.”

“I want everybody back,” the series’ creator said about Countdown Season 2’s potential cast.

Haas then described the plans he has for Agent Keyonte Bell’s arc, stating, “If we get a Season 2, I’d like to meet his father. I don’t have a cast idea in mine, but his father obviously looms over him shadow-wise. I think it’d be an interesting thing to see.”

Lastly, Haas detailed the possible storylines for Jensen Ackles and Eric Dane’s characters in Countdown Season 2, noting, “I think you would see some more Blythe’s family. And then I think the biggest thing I want to do personal-wise in Season 2 that will get the audience very curious, is cast and have as a character Melinda Bates, the woman left at the altar by Meachum that Oliveras knows and knows her sister. I have a whole plan that will not just be a personal story for that character.”
