As the race for who’ll don the mantle of Agent 007 after Daniel Craig heats up, the competition for the new Bond girl in the upcoming James Bond 26 also seems to have picked up considerable momentum. Ongoing speculations have put forth some of the biggest names in Hollywood for the part, with rumors linking actresses from the Marvel and Wicked franchises to the role.
Ariana Grande rumored to be a big contender for James Bond 26
One of the most prominent casting theories about the next James Bond film suggests that pop sensation Ariana Grande is in a strong position to become the new Bond girl. According to The National Enquirer, a source has claimed that even though Harry Potter star Emma Watson and MCU mainstay Florence Pugh are the frontrunners, the 7 Rings singer has emerged as “another big contender” for the role.
As things stand, per the insider, Pugh has a good chance of featuring in James Bond 26, specifically due to her experience with major franchises, as well as her “very strong relationship with incoming 007 director Denis Villeneuve from their work together on Dune.”
The source also noted that Emma Watson basically “owes her career” to the producer of the forthcoming Bond movie, David Heyman, as he “helped pick her to be the female lead of his Harry Potter movies,” making her another prime candidate to secure the part of the new Bond girl.
While Pugh and Watson may “have an edge,” the source added that “if Ariana were in a Bond movie, it would make it an event.” The insider shared, “It’s a tall order, but people believe Ariana is up for the challenge!”
James Bond 26 producers are apparently “incredibly impressed with what Ariana has done with the Wicked movies.” As such, they seem to see Grande as the “perfect fit for the James Bond they envisage who will be shown to be in his late 20s and who will, ideally, hook a whole new generation on the spy series.”
Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya also seem to be in the running to become the new Bond girl. However, due to her growing stardom, the latter prospect only seems plausible if her fiancé, Tom Holland, ends up becoming the next James Bond.
However, the aforementioned sources are not named. So fans must take these rumors with a pinch of salt.
