A new rumor appears to suggest that the popular Marvel avenger-turned-villain, Elizabeth Olsen‘s Wanda, aka Scarlet Witch, might return in Avengers: Doomsday. Olsen was not a part of the cast announcement of Doomsday, which Marvel Studios released in March 2025. Olsen seemingly died in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, leaving fans with doubt regarding her future.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda rumored to return from the dead
Recently, insider My Time To Shine Hello, aka MTTSH, shared that Elizabeth Olsen might return in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
The scooper shared a GIF of Wanda on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Wanda is BACK,” fueling the hype around the Scarlet Witch’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The ending of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness showed Wanda dying while destroying the Darkhold on Mount Wundagore. Since then, there has been chatter regarding whether one of the strongest characters of Marvel has actually died or not.
Previously, while speaking with Jimmy Kimmel on his show in September 2024, Olsen seemingly confirmed that Wanda had died. She stated, “I assume as much.” She referred to the “red light of explosive energy” seen at the end of the movie and added, “I think I’m dead.” She also expressed her desire to play Wanda again and stated that she wanted to find a way to “undead” her character. She conveyed, “I’m open to ideas.”
During her March 2025 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress also appeared to hint that she was not a part of Avengers: Doomsday. At the time, Doomsday shooting was about to start filming in London, and Olsen had a schedule there as well, leading to fans wondering if she was there for the Marvel movie. However, she debunked these rumors by saying, “No, I’m back [in the States]. I just finished [Panic Carefully]. I’m moving on to filming a pilot for FX [called Seven Sisters].”
