Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom To Fight Chris Evans’ Captain America in Avengers: Doomsday

A new rumor suggests that Chris Evans’ Captain America might play a huge role in Avengers: Doomsday and will be targeted by Doctor Doom. Rumors about Evans joining the movie in his iconic role began in December 2024. Although nothing has been confirmed, fans are hoping to see the actor reunite with his Marvel co-star Robert Downey Jr.

Avengers: Doomsday rumor suggests Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers caused an incursion

Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom might be after Chris Evans’ Captain America in Avengers: Doomsday, according to a recent rumor shared by Hollywood insider My Time To Shine Hello (MTTSH). They further stated that Doctor Doom might be tailing Evans due to his trip back to the past and his choice to stay with Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter at the end of Avengers: Endgame.

Scooper MTTSH wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter), “When Steve went back in time to go live with Peggy he created the Incursions so now Doom wants him dead.”

Rumors surrounding Evans and Atwell coming together in Doomsday were addressed by Alex Perez of the Cosmic Circus when asked by a fan. He said, in a Q&A, “End of the world, forced out of retirement, a hero’s job is never done.” Recently, MTTSH also shared that Evans is reportedly working on the upcoming movie under the codename Luke Cage.

However, there is no hard evidence or statement from Marvel Studios about this, so, at the moment, this is just a rumor.

Evans has previously hinted that he is not coming back in Doomsday while promoting Materialists. During his chat with Screen Rant in June, he shared that he was sad about not returning and said, “I mean, it’s sad to be away. It’s sad to not be back with the band, but I’m sure they’re doing something incredible, and I’m sure it’s going to be that much harder when it comes out and you feel like you weren’t invited to the party.”
