Eminem’s Stans documentary sets August release date for Paramount+
Eminem’s Stans movie is on track to hit Paramount’s premier streaming platform, Paramount+, on the confirmed release date of August 26, 2025 (via Screen Rant).
The documentary derives its title from the singer’s hit single “Stan.” Part of his 2000 album The Marshall Mathers LP, the track conveys the story of a tormented fan whose admiration for Eminem soon takes the form of obsession, resulting in him ultimately losing his sanity.
Upon its release, the song drew widespread acclaim for its lyrical depth and thoughtful narrative structure. The relevant subject matter of the track has even led fans of the iconic rapper to be dubbed as Stans, explaining the title of his documentary.
Eminem’s movie encapsulates his rise to fame, as well as the rapid growth in his fanbase, by using a blend of interviews, archive footage, and dramatic reenactments.
The director of Stans, Steven Leckart, described the documentary by saying, “Stan’ is one of the most unconventional songs ever written, where the story is mostly told from a fan’s perspective, so this film was an incredible opportunity to find a unique approach.”
Leckart continued, “We kept coming back to one lyric from the song: ‘I’m just like you.’ Fans who echo that same sentiment carry much of the film. But like the song, Marshall’s perspective was also essential to the movie. I’m grateful for just how candid, sincere, and frequently hilarious he was.”
Since its release, Stans has mostly garnered positive reviews from critics and currently boasts an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 92%.
