Far Cry TV Series Possibly Being Developed by Alien: Earth Creator

Having already overseen the creation of the critically acclaimed Fargo series as well as the upcoming Alien: Earth TV series, Noah Hawley is reportedly working to adapt Ubisoft’s Far Cry franchise for the small screen now. According to a recent briefing from the renowned video game publisher itself, the said project is already in development, with Hawley set to co-create the series.

Noah Hawley reportedly overseeing a Far Cry TV series adaptation

As per a now-deleted update from Ubisoft, FX is presently crafting a TV series based on the fan-favorite Far Cry video game franchise.

While the entertainment giants removed the said post shortly after publishing it, some Reddit users managed to extract pieces of information regarding the project in time.

The update seemingly positioned Noah Hawley and Lost alum Rob McElhenney as co-creators of the Far Cry series, with the Alien: Earth developer serving as the showrunner and McElhenney coming in as a cast member. It also shed light on the potential construct of the show, noting that each season would focus on a new set of characters in a different location.

This approach would allow the series to follow the anthology format of the Far Cry games, which has spawned a total of six entries, in addition to five spin-off games so far.

In the now-deleted post, which has since vanished from the internet completely, Margaret Boykin, who serves as the Head of Film and Television Content at Ubisoft, reportedly described the much-discussed Far Cry series by saying, “This collaboration is really an embarrassment of riches. Far Cry a psychological tailspin that doesn’t shy away from the darkest and most absurd parts of humanity, which aligns perfectly with FX’s bold and fearless storytelling style.”

While all things point toward Far Cry getting a dedicated TV series in the near future, neither Ubisoft nor FX has corroborated this update at the time of writing.
