Speculations regarding Scorpion’s much-awaited debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day suggest that the iconic Marvel villain could extend his MCU run with a future project. Portrayed by Michael Mando, the character was recently confirmed to make an appearance in Spider-Man 4. However, the latest rumor surrounding Scorpion’s fate in the MCU indicates that the acid-spraying antagonist may return to vex Tom Holland’s web-slinger in Spider-Man 5.
Brand New Day Villain Rumored To Be in Spider-Man 5 as Well
According to scooper @MyTimeToShineHello, Marvel Studios is seemingly planning to keep Michael Mando’s Scorpion for more Spider-Man movies rather than just introducing him as a one-off villain in the upcoming Brand New Day.
In their latest X (formerly Twitter) update, MTTSH noted, “The idea is for Scorpion to come back for Spider-Man 5 as well.” This theory would suggest that even though Mando’s Mac Gargan is shaping up to be a formidable foe for Peter Parker, he may not be the primary antagonist in Spider-Man 4.
Notably, recent speculations have hinted that Brand New Day could feature a plethora of villains from Spider-Man’s rogue gallery. Alongside Mister Negative, who has been the most prominent candidate to feature as Spider-Man 4’s main villain so far, fans might also be able to catch appearances from Tombstone, Tarantula, Boomerang, and Ramrod.
Michael Mando has already made an appearance in the MCU, playing the nefarious Mac Gargan in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film’s post-credits scene also teased his eventual transformation into the Scorpion during Gargan’s encounter with Michael Keaton’s Vulture in jail.
Despite the encouraging updates regarding Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Marvel Studios has yet to share any official word on Scorpion’s fate, as well as the villains that could feature in the 2026 film. At the time of writing, the movie is on track to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
