Spider-Man 4‘s plot might include a major upgrade for Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and provide him with a tank, according to a rumor. Bernthal’s Punisher, aka Frank Castle, was announced as part of the massive cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in June 2025. Apart from Bernthal, some of the stars joining Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4 include Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, Zendaya, and Sadie Sink.

Hollywood scooper Daniel Richtman recently shared a rumor on his Patreon regarding Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s plot, suggesting that Punisher will get an upgrade in the movie.
Richtman wrote, “The Punisher will reportedly still be a ‘murderous psycho’ in ‘SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY’ and will be equipped with tools like a tank and advanced tech to deal with larger threats.”
Moreover, another scooper, My Time To Shine Hello (MTTSH), took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared that Jon Bernthal’s Punisher “is a bit like the Winter Soldier in Brand New Day.” However, these are just rumors as the plot details of Spider-Man: Brand New Day are being kept under wraps by Marvel Studios.
Although Richtman didn’t specify the kind of large threats that Punisher would be facing on his channel, MTTSH conveyed in another post, “In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Punisher will get a major upgrade to deal with the Hulk and Spider-Man.” This is related to a previous rumor that stated that the Punisher will be hunting down Mando’s Scorpion in the movie to kill him. However, Holland’s Spider-Man will try to stop him, leading to the two forces clashing.
Despite the numerous rumors regarding the plot, Marvel Studios has only confirmed that Spider-Man 4 will operate on a street level in the movie. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the filming of the much-anticipated sequel is currently underway in Glasgow.
