F1 races past World War Z at worldwide box office

Brad Pitt’s F1 has overtaken World War Z to become the highest-grossing film of his career globally. As of the latest box office report, F1 has reached a worldwide total of $545.6 million, surpassing World War Z, which previously held the top spot with $540.4 million.

F1, an Apple Original Films production distributed by Warner Bros., added $17.2 million from 78 international markets in its most recent weekend, bringing its international total to $372.3 million.

Domestically, the film has earned $173.3 million, with a domestic opening of $57 million (via Box Office Mojo). The movie saw especially strong performance in markets like South Korea, where it increased 36% in its sixth weekend, reaching a local total of $18.5 million.

In comparison, World War Z, released in 2013 by Paramount Pictures, earned $202.8 million domestically and $337.6 million internationally. It held the title of Brad Pitt’s top-grossing film for over a decade. The movie had opened to $66.4 million domestically and had a production budget of an estimated $190 million (via Box Office Mojo).

F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski, features Pitt as a retired Formula One driver returning to mentor a younger teammate. The film’s strong overseas performance, particularly in Asia-Pacific and Europe, contributed significantly to its global lead. South Korea, the UK, and France were among the film’s top-performing international markets.

With $545.6 million worldwide, F1 has now become Brad Pitt’s biggest global box office success to date. The film continues its international rollout and holds a PG-13 rating, with a runtime of 2 hours and 35 minutes. Its global momentum remains strong, despite new competition entering theaters in multiple regions.
