Hostel TV series, from writer, director, and executive producer Eli Roth and featuring Billions actor Paul Giamatti, has found a home for streaming. If the show does get made, it will be the latest entry in the Hostel franchise. The first feature, Hostel, came out in 2005, followed by Hostel: Part II in 2007 and Hostel: Part III in 2011.
Eli Roth’s Hostel TV series goes into development at Peacock
Eli Roth’s Hostel TV series is heading to development at Peacock, Variety has learned.
The series was originally revealed to be in the works in June 2024. It was also reported at the time that Roth and Giamatti were part of the production. However, this is the first time that Peacock’s involvement has been disclosed.
NBCUniversal’s in-house streamer is one of the most prominent streaming platforms in the U.S., so it makes sense for a prolific project such as this to find a home there. As mentioned above, Roth will be involved in the development of the series in multiple roles, including writing, directing, and executive producing. Mike Fleiss and Chris Briggs, the producers of the three Hostel movies, are attached to the project as executive producers. The film and television production and distribution company Fifth Season is overseeing the development of the series.
At the time of this article’s composition, details about the plot and Giamatti’s role have been kept under wraps.
Notably, Roth wrote, directed, and produced the first two Hostel movies. The third one was penned by Michael D. Weiss and helmed by Scott Spiegel. These movies generally revolve around tourists encountering horrors after they become targets of the Elite Hunting Club in Europe.
Hostel and Hostel: Part II were released in theaters and found considerable success at the box office. In contrast, Hostel: Part III came out direct-to-DVD.
One of the most celebrated actors of his era, Giamatti has appeared in Private Parts (1997), Win Win (2011), and many other projects. He received the Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Cinderella Man and the Oscar nomination for Best Actor for The Holdovers.
Notably, the Hostel TV series doesn’t have an official release date.
